What Does God Look Like?

The Bible both tells us that God is invisible and “no one has seen God” but also describes encounters with God (Moses, Jacob and Hagar) and visions of God (Isaiah and John of Patmos). The Bible mentions God’s face, God reaching down, God walking, and says that we are made in God’s image. God also appears as a pillar of fire and one of smoke, and the Holy Spirit appears like a dove in and as a tongue of fire. We don’t have enough information about Jesus to be able to fill out a description for his driver’s license; no eye color, hair color, height or weight. Yet it is through Jesus, God in human form, that we can come to know God. (John 1:18). God can look like whatever God wants to look like; but God gives us a human face to search for, one which radiates love, justice and peace.

Will we know soon after we die where we are going? That is, will we retain or regain some form of conscience?

Ash Wednesday Morning Prayer

Feb. 25 — Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent and preparation for celebrating Easter. God says, “return to me with all your heart.” The church will be open for prayer and meditation in the morning 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. There will be a brief spoken prayer service at 8 a.m.
